Fort Wayne Derby Girls Announce Intention to Host Regional Tournament: The Fort Wayne Fall Brawl November 24, 2007 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum

The Fort Wayne Derby Girls Flat-track roller derby league is hosting the first five-team tournament in Indiana’s history, and we want you to be a part of it. Four teams, in addition to a team from Fort Wayne, have been invited for a full day of rough and tumble roller derby action. This tournament will put the national spotlight on Fort Wayne by bringing in other regional and national roller derby leagues.

Roller derby, once a common sport in mid-'70s, has staged a comeback.  Fort Wayne is at the pinnacle of Indiana’s roller derby resurgence.  Since the birth of the state’s first all-female, flat track roller derby league in January of 2006, the league has donated over $20,000 to local women and children’s charity.  The league has grown to three home teams of local women, as well as a traveling all-star team, the Bomb Squad.  The league embodies the strength, courage, and vitality of Ft Wayne women, but also serves to provide another form of amateur athletic entertainment to the Summit City.  FWDG’s are required to contribute to the community through both volunteering and monetary contributions to northeast Indiana charities.

The Coliseum doors will open at 8:30am and the action starts at 9am.

Tickets will be on sale soon and may be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or at the Coliseum box office. Tickets are $10.
